So I just finished finals week of the semester, and I'm very happy to have a break so I can learn more tunes! Today I learned a really cool old-time tune.
For my version I listened to Rayna Gellert's recording, and a live recording of Stephanie Coleman playing with Adam Hurt.
The tuning for this tune is just standard tuning with the G string tuned up one whole step to A. Also, it's crooked having an extra half a measure (or two beats) at the end of each A part.
